How do you fix a burned out monitor?

Is there any way to fix a 'burned in' ghost image on a CRT monitor? White full screen burn?

  • Is there any way to fix a 'burned in' ghost image on CRT monitors? I've heard of people re-burning the entire screen with a white screen saver to lighten the original 'burned in' image and make it less visible. Any hardware solutions? Software? Buying a new monitor/lcd is a bad answer - save your breath. If you have a REAL solution to fixing this problem I'd be glad to hear it. :)

  • Answer:

If you have the image that caused the burn in then invert the colors and burn in the new image at high brightness. If you had a black background and white fonts, then you would use a white screen with black fonts. But this all sound like a waste of time. Since I used to be a TV tech, I'd just pull the CRT and exchange it for a rebuilt one at the local CRT re-builder(if they still have those any more).

Buy a new moniter and learn to use a screensaver. That's my REAL solution and I'm stickin' too it.

I'm not sure if you can. you might be able to whitewash it with multiple other "burned" images (white) each just slightly different from the last. I don't think that's good for your monitor though...

stick a magnet to it

CRT monitors are used by people who don't care about the quality of picture(s) and of anything, they just wanna save space, so if u r looking for quality, don't waste ur time questioning people here - just buy a normal tube monitor instead and be happy.

That's a hardware problem that no software can fix, It is either you sticked the computer speaker closely to the monitor or use a magnet and like sweeping lead the the screen burn to the corner of the monitor....
