How can I have a dual screen?

How can I dual screen some lcd monitors? (esp ones with different native resolutions)?

  • I have a dell 4600 and an 18" lcd (yeah 18 is an awkward number for an lcd) dell monitor. i wanted to add another one but since it's gotten pretty difficult to find another 18" monitor i was gonna get another 17" or 19" monitor. I actually was thinking about getting a 19" widescreen but was wondering if there would be difficulties with the two screens different resolutions. Any info about how to set up some monitors (i'm upgrading my video card to a AGP 8x nvidia 7800GS card so that won't be a problem). Just really wanted to know about anyone's experience and what would happen with different native resolutions (normal 1280x1024 and widescreen 1440x900) if they were plugged into one video card. Thanks!

  • Answer:

you will have to run both at the lowes native res, the big one will automatically interpolate the image to fit, but will be blurry so it will not be very nice picture for reading text

This card will work without any problems with two monitors, you just have to connect them with proper cables to graphic card and then in Windows desktop right-click to choose screen properties then go to settings tab and you will see two big icons with number '1' and '2' - right click on the one with 2 and choose 'connected' thats all - you can have different resolutions on both monitors, you setup resolutions by choosing 1 or 2 icon and changing resolution slider in the same setup window - it's fairly easy , have fun :)
