Why does my computer randomly crash to a Black Screen?

Keep getting blue screen crash every time I boot up computer?

  • FYI I am not on the computer right now that is having the issues. So it all started with getting the "Security Tool" virus.. I did numerous attempts on a lot of different strategies, my computer wouldn't let me start up in safe mode because it would just blue screen crash everytime I would even want to start in any safe mode. Now someone suggested this: ______________________________________… "Use MSCONFIG. Start - Run - type "msconfig" in the Open: box - OK Go to Startup tab, uncheck EVERYTHING not related to your antivirus. Go to the BOOT.INI tab, check /SAFEBOOT and /BOOTLOG. OK - Restart. At this point, the PC should boot into safe mode even without you pressing F8." ______________________________________… Okay so I did, still getting blue screen crashes except this time, I can not go back into normal mode, everything I do in the "F8" screen it just blue screen crashes because it keeps on doing safe mode. Now I ask, is their a solution for this or is my computer finally done for? Thank you

  • Answer:

There is a solution, but it takes time and the the following: 1) Time 2) A recovery disk of your OS (Operating System,) such as Windows XP. 3)A drivers disk. Look in your recovery files/disk to find a "Drivers and Utilities." You erase your entire PC files., so it will be like when you bought it. Let us get started. Doing a Format on Your PC Should Be A Last Resort! Reformatting your Windows computer is usually the absolute last resort and is often done unnecessarily. Because doing a complete reformat of your computer will erase the contents of the hard drive and require you to reinstall all software, reformatting is usually a last resort. Some Computer Manufacturers Make Reformatting Easy Many name-brand PC manufacturers include a restore-disk which makes it easy to reformat your PC and return it to the state it was in on the day you purchased it. Some manufactures supply only a standard Microsoft Windows CD, and some (usually lower-end PC manufacturers) supply neither! If your PC did not come with a restore or reformatting CD, then you will need to take extra steps to format your hard drive and get Windows re-installed. Back Up Your Files Before You Reformat Your Windows PC! Because the reformat or restore process erases everything on your computer, it is critical to have a backup of any important files on your computer. You will also need your original software install disks to reinstall any software you have purchased. Step 1: Partition the hard disk 1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your CD or DVD drive, or insert the first Windows XP Setup disk into the floppy disk drive, and then restart the computer to start the Windows XP Setup program. 2. If you are prompted, select any options that are required to start the computer from the CD or DVD drive. Step 2: Format the hard disk and install Windows XP 1. Use the ARROW keys to select the partition where you want to install Windows XP, and then press ENTER. 2. Select the format option that you want to use to format the partition. You can select from the following options: * Format the partition by using the NTFS file system (Quick) * Format the partition by using the FAT file system (Quick) * Format the partition by using the NTFS file system * Format the partition by using the FAT file system * Leave the current file system intact (no changes) Notes * If the selected partition is a new partition, the option to leave the current file system intact is not available. * If the selected partition is larger than 32 gigabytes (GB), the FAT file system option is not available. * If the selected partition is larger than 2 GB, the Windows Setup program uses the FAT32 file system (you must press ENTER to confirm). * If the partition is smaller than 2 GB, the Windows Setup program uses the FAT16 file system. * If you deleted and created a new System partition, but you are installing Windows XP on a different partition, you are prompted to select a file system for both the System and Startup partitions. 3. Press ENTER. 4. After the Windows Setup program formats the partition, follow the instructions that appear on the screen to install Windows XP. After the Windows Setup program is finished and you have restarted the computer, you can use the Disk Management tools in Windows XP to create or format more partitions.

I think you will most likely have to reinstall your operating system with a bootable cd

No It depends on what is causing the blue screens, do you get an error code with a load of zero's like 0x00000007e This can be caused by hardware failing. I would boot with memtest 86 and test your memory first, it that passes then test the hard drive with the makers utility.Test 1 memory module at a time.

Did not look, like a good advice at all. If using F8 you go to System Recovery, try it. If not you might need to reinstall O.S.

Time to re install windows, my friend.

I have same question to you. My computer kept crashing with illegal operation errors. At first I thought it was a virus, but my antivirus wasn't able to find anything wrong. I ran your software and found over 300 errors!!! After it corrected them, my computer was no longer crashing! Thank <--http://fix-pc-freezing.com/Clean_Up_Center.htm for saving me a lot of time and headache! You fixed my PC when nothing else did! fails it is time to reformat your hard drive and wipe your pc clean, this can take hours and you will probably need the data recovery disc that you should have got when you bought the pc. The Windows operating system constantly refers to the registry to get information about all of the components such as hardware and software which are installed on the computer. The registry tells Windows what to do and how to access the various programs, files, and processes. However, the registry can contain bad information which sends Windows off doing useless tasks or running unneeded routines. Sometimes errors occur including the blue screen of death. Other times the system slows down. Because of the sheer number of factors that can affect the registry, there’s no one size fits all approach. You can’t just go into the registry and remove the bad information because it’s nearly impossible to decipher which information is good and which information is bad. That’s a job better suited for software. I should like to commend Registry Easy http://cleanup-comuter-run-perfectly.com to you ! You can try ! Good luck!

I have come across this before at one of my customer's locations. There might be a way to clean this virus but, the conditions to doing so are not recommendable. The reason I say this is because you have a variant of the Security Tools virus that self mutates. That means that no matter how hard you try to recover from this virus, it always gets worse. I got on the phone with Microsoft and had a nice 2 hour conversation with 3 different technicians about this virus. They ran me through pcsafety free online scans at safety.live.com and eset.com that seemed to do the trick but failed to remove the virus after the computer was rebooted. The virus is a rootkit that is memory resident and has features to learn about and mutate your removal methods. This is why you get a BSOD when you boot now. So you are right, you are done for and its time to reformat. Cut the power, pull the battery and the ram, remove the hard drive and only boot from a CD/DVD once you begin your reformat. Oh one more thing, this virus will attach itself to Autorun.exe in any USB drive too so be careful about what you backup cause you might just reinfect your system once you have reformatted.
