Why does my monitor go blank occasionally?

Why would my monitor go blank when I plug it into the onboard and agp ports?

  • my monitor goes blank when I plug in the connector, to both the onboard and agp ports. The power light on the monitor flashes green when I plug it into the ports. The motherboard is getting power. The harddrive, floppy, and dvdrom all power up. I can't see the screen to adjust any settings.

  • Answer:

It sounds like your computer is not really running. Try getting into the BIOS setting, then plug the monitor into both ports. If this does not work, then use the CLEAR CMOS jumper on the Motherboard. I did have issues with my ASUS motherboard, and this was THE CURE. Good Luck

Make sure that its plugged into the right port and its in correctly and that its plugged into the monitor too, 3. make sure that both the monitor and the computer has power and thats it not in sleep mode, 4, sometimes the monitor has a standby light, so try turning on the monitor
