Why does my compaq screen flicker on movement?

  • i use a compaq presario cq61 laptop. its around 1.5 years old (i purchased a second hand used around 6 months) .. recently, i discovered that the display on the screen tends to become white when i move the lid quickly...i had this pdf file open, and i moved my lid forward quickly, and the screen became white and then as the lid was stable, it became normal again.. this happened when i put the lid farther, and also when i pulled it to down (at a little distance from actually closing it)... today, to check the problem again, on my orange desktop wallpaper, i closed to lid to see if the problem is there upon opening the laptop from sleep... as i closed the lid, at a certain point, it became white...and then i had to close the lid anyways... so what is the problem, and how to solve it?? the screen is normal when it is not moved...its only on movement at certain angle that it happens..its just for a second, that the whiteness comes...

    Two options. 1.) Don't move it. 2.) Sounds like the connector cable between the top and bottom is either loose or broken. If you're up to it you can open it all up and look. Or have it serviced.

the screen on laptops are connected inside the case using a thin ribon type cable, over the years of use and opening closing these cables can fray or become brittle meaning that in certain positions they may loose contact in places. the only real way to fix this is to have the cable replaced or if its part of the screen then you need a whole new screen which is not cheap and if your using it second hand then its probably more than the unit is worth. Try finding a shop that will diagnose it for free,
