How to play hd movies on pc?

Full HD (1080p) PC system requirements?

  • Hi guys, I need help with full HD video playback on my PC. I just got a new full HD screen (Philips 220E 22' 1080p) and I'm having problems playing full HD movies. I tried to play Zombieland 1080p x264 and image was lagging and it was jerky. My PC specifications are: Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz 1.60GHz RAM: 2.00 GB HyperX Graphic Card: NVIDIA GF9800GT 1024MB DDR3 On Windows 7 32-bit and CoreAVC 2.0 Codec I played Avatar 1080p trailer in KM Player with no problems, but 1080p movies are jerky and lagging. Can you tell me any advise on how to solve that problem or do I need to change my hardware specs. I was thinking of buying a new processor.

  • Answer:

CPU: Pentium4 3.4GHz Socket478 (6 year old single core) Ram: 2Gb 667 VGA: Asus EAH4670HD 512Mb HDMI output (the only upgrade I had to do from onboard graphics) Audio: Onboard RealtekALC888HD (output through VGA's HDMI) Display: Philips32''FullHD LcdTV 1920x1080 HDMI input Software: Win XP Pro SP2 32bit Media Player Classic Home Cinema (default settings, no extra codecs) - Plays 1080p .mkv x264 movies with .srt or internal subtitles at 1920x1080 no problem - GPU hardware accelerated video (default Catalyst settings) - CPU usage 2-18% I guess if your 9800GT can do it, then you can do it.
