How can I safely create a Power Surge to damage my Lcd monitor?
-
My monitor is no good anymore, but my replacement plan for it will only cover me in case of internal malfunction or damage from a power surge. Does anybody know where power surges occur frequently (in chicago area)?

I don't know but that's awesome. They always screw people over as hard as they can with those warranties. I'm glad to see someone trying to stick it to them.

I'm pretty sure this would be illegal; I'm positive it's unethical. Buy a new monitor. In the long run the money you spend for a new monitor will be cheap compared to the time, money and heartache you'll spend trying to get a new monitor through deceit.

Go to the hard ware store and buy a replacement push button igniter for a gas bbq. Zap the power cord or screen itself a few times. That should do something spike related.

yes, get two lenghts of wire 12 or 10 gauge residential electrical wire, strip only about 1 inch on both ends the two, insert one end of both into each of the hot lines on your dryer or oven outlet, being careful to only handle the wires where the jacket is still on the cable, (i've been hit with 220 and 240 several times and am only a little strange now) lol so, it won't hurt ya even if you do get it, its just a little uncomfortable, well, that being said, touch the two ends of the wires to the tips of the monitor plug ends and this will fry it for sure.

You are just determined to invite bad Karma into your life. Being honest and paying for a new monitor would be the right thing to do. If you choose to cheat and somehow damage the monitor, in hopes that you can get it replaced, may well end up damaging something else in your home and your wiring which could be a lot more expensive to replace. What happens if you damage the electricity so much that it affects other homes in your neighborhood? Do you want to be responsible for starting a fire for the sake of money? Do you want to be teaching others, or your own children if you have them that cheating and lying is right? Legally and morally, you are wrong. You are giving away your soul for the sake of money. No good can come of that.
