I need a monitor adapter to go from a 15 pin male (monitor) to a 9 pin male on the computer. Best way?

Edit: Sorry, cut-n-paste into the wrong question! Meanwhile, let me cut-n-paste the appropriate answer: What computer system is this? There have not been 9 pin video connectors for decades. I suspect that this is not what you really want to do. Maybe you computer is missing a video card?

That is such old technology it is possible that your VGA monitor won't work with the EGA connector on the computer. You're better off buying an SVGA card for your monitor to plug into. Be sure it is compatible with your version of Windows, though before you dish out the dough. Or, like the previous poster, this is a serial connector, and not a video connector at all... since they are both 9-pin male on the computer side. You may be better off getting someone who know computer hardware a little bit better than you do to help you out.

I don't think you know what you are doing. The 9 pin must be a serial port (RS232). Not a monitor port. There are also 25 pin serial ports too. The monitor port is 15 pin D-SUB (RGB). You can only connect it to another 15 pin port.

The 9 pin is a serial connector, not for video. There will be a 15 pin connector on your PC and it will look just like the 9 pin serial plug, only with a third row of holes.

Are you sure you're connecting to the right thing. I've never heard of a video-card with a 9 pin connector on it. They're usually 15 pin connectors.

I think you're trying to plug your monitor into your serial port on your computer, and it isn't going to work!
