What problems can be with Dell Flat Screen Monitor?

I am having problems with a different HP flat screen monitor(s).?

  • I am having problems with a different HP flat screen monitor(s). When I boot my computer (DELL Optiplex) running Windows XP Pro, it clearly displays the Windows logo and progress bar. Then the screen goes to black and I can hear the Windows XP jingle, but the monitor remains black. OK, I decided to try and access the OS from safe mode. On POST I beat F8 until the screen opens. I then choose to boot from Safe Mode and hit Enter. The monitor displays a lot of code and stops with this being the last line displayed: "multi(0)disk( 0)rdisk(0) partition( 1)\windows\ system32\ Drivers\Mup. sys". The machine can sit there for hours and go no further, and never boots to Safe Mode. I bought a new monitor and the same thing happens. I have tried unpluging the monitor and plugging it back in to no avail. In fact, I have tried everything I know with both monitors with no positive results. What do I need to do? Obviously it is not in the monitors, perhapse re-install the OS? Please help! Thanks in advance,
