IMHO a HDMI to VGA cable will not work. HDMI is a TMDS digital signal, the same as a DVI-D signal. VGA is a 0-0.7 V analog signal. You have to have some electronics in there that will convert one format to another. Just connecting pins together is an exercise in futility. So, unless your PS3 can pump analog signals out of the HDMI connector a cable is pointless. The other caveat is that High Def. Blu Ray playback requires HDCP encryption. This is part of the HDMI spec., so a HDMI-HDMI connection is no problem. But you can not perform HDCP encryption over an analog connection. So you will either get a low def. picture, or nothing at all. I would recommend getting a new monitor that has DVI-D input with HDCP, or a HDMI input. You can get HDMI to VGA converters, but they are almost as expensive as a new monitor.

It should work although you will notice a downgrade visually since VGA doesn't support resolutions like HDMI can.

If your monitor has a hdmi input it will support it. Much old TVs dont have HDMI but newer TVs would..(mine does)

haven't tried that yet. but i think it will work. don't expect to see HD output though.
