How do you fix a burned out monitor?

What could be the problem with my monitor?

  • i was playing around with my monitor that was having some weird problems when i accidentally hit a kind of wrinkled metallic bar in the power supply circuit of the monitor while it was plugged in and a spark happened and the house power went off, but however after i reactivated the house's power the monitor started normally. later i was doing something else with the monitor when i hit the same spot again and again the same spark happened but this time after i tuned on the power the monitor won't start. what could be the problem? what part of the monitor has burned out? and is there anyway to fix it? thanks in advance

  • Answer:

what i believe happened is called catastrophic Electro-static discharge. This could mean one of two things: A: you have a CRT monitor (very deep/ large) if this is the type of monitor you should not deal with it and should take it to the hazardous waste disposal in your area. B: you have a LCD monitor (flat screen, not too expensive) if this is your monitor and the screen is black you may have a back lit LCD and can replace the light in the rear of the monitor.
