Why does my monitor unexpectedly shut off?

It takes 10 minutes for the monitor to get signal after shut down. why?

  • I had a PIII 450 hp system with hp 15" color monitor. I recently upgraded it to AMD sempron 2500+ with ASUS mother board. I installed win xp Media center edition. I work with the system for some time(random) and shut down it. It takes 10 minutes for the monitor to get signal from cpu. If I swith on the system before 10 minutes light on the cd drive flashes and fan is working but immediately the system shuts down. The ctrl+alt+del, and restart from windows(warm boot) works just fine. I use the mother board with newer monitors and it works just fine. I have no clue as to why this unusual behaviour? I know the problem is in the monitor but do not guess exactly what is wrong? Please help.

  • Answer:

How old is the 15" monitor? If it is an older monitor, there may be a bad/loose connection in the cord that connects to the computer.

may be virus........run antivirus immediately

Before u do the virus scan as suggested load the pc on safemode and run the virus scan. If that doesn't do anything in most cases, get the latest driver updates from the manufacture of the monitor. Your better off tossing the monitor in the trash in my point of view.
