Second Monitor on the laptop?

I desperately need some help... I want to use a second monitor but only have one. I have a laptop though...?

  • I would like to use a second monitor to edit my videos with (my software supports using a second monitor to full-screen preview) and I would like to use my old laptop for this purpose. I have a monitor with a DVI and VGA port and a graphic card with the same. I would like to do this without destroying my laptop in the process, as it is not THAT old. My graphics card is a ATI X1300 pro on my desktop (hoping to upgrade soon) and I have intergrated graphics on my laptop. My laptop also has a VGA port that I have used at school to hook up the projector to (I was the only one who could do it :) ). Thanks for all your help. Lloyd.

  • Answer:

Well the really quick way is to hook the monitor into the laptop and do all your work on the laptop with dual screen output from your laptop. I have also heard of a way where you basically install a special type of software on the laptop and another copy of the PC then if they are connected via a network and both on your can take over what is being displayed on the laptop. Its similar to remote desktop software except your are just controlling the monitor and not using any of the other parts of the laptop. The software allows you to either do dual screen mode or display the same on both screens. You'll have to search google for the info I wasn't able to find it again.
