If it is a desktop system there should be either buttons on the front of the monitor or there will be a opo open little door with a dial you have to use those options to brighten your monitor. The cotrol panel options will do nothing for you but to allow you to change the color settings from 16 million to 32 million - there is no brightness option for it. The Fn Key is on laptops and then there is a brightness option usually the F7 key or there is a seperate key on the right side of the keyboard usually. If none of these options work then you might have a bad monitor and it is on its way out. Go buy a new one or if under warranty get it replaced. To test if the monitor is going bad try it on another system if it brightens up then you have a bad video card replace that. If the same problem happens when the monitr is plugged into another system and it can not be brighten up there ge a new monitor... When monitors start going dark the picture tube is going bad the contrast circuit are going out or there has been some heat damage to the monitor if it has been running n a very warm environment.

There are two settings. One is on the physical monitor or screen itself. If it's a laptop, look for buttons just below the screen. The other setting is through your video card setup, if your video card supports adjusting the gama/brightness. It will be located in your Windows Display properties (through the control panel). Go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. Any additional settings provided by your video card's manufacturer's driver will be here. Crank up the gamma and/or brightness. Those specific games will have a brightness/gamma setting in their video options. Turn up the brightness in the game options. I always do.

Use Adobe Gamma, it might help, here is the link: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=321608&sliceId=2 PS: the Fn is most of the times for labtop not desktop, good luck
