What's better, a 52" lcd or a 52" plasma tv?

Whats better LCD or Plasma tv?

  • which T.V. is better LCD tv or Plasma tv whats the difference

  • Answer:

It's not what's happening behind the screen that's important - it's how the screen performs as a television that matters the most. In that regard, both plasma and LCD sets produce excellent pictures, although many home entertainment specialists and gamers still say CRTs produce the best overall images (although the latest plasmas are particularly good, and LCD sets are quickly catching up in terms of quality). Those same home entertainment specialists will tell you that for basic home theatre-like usage, plasma screens have a slight edge over LCDs. This is because plasma screens can display blacks more accurately than LCDs can, which means better contrast and detail in dark-coloured television or movie scenes. The nature of LCD technology, where a backlight shines through the LCD layer, means it's hard for it to achieve true blacks because there's always some light leakage from between pixels. This is steadily improving with every new generation of LCD, however. Hope this solves your query...

ive read that for gaming and sports you might wanna go Plasma - regular viewing / movies / etc.,etc..., LCD Personally im all for the LCD though. you really just gotta do a quick search and find an article that compares the two to really take it all in unless you get somebody that really knows their stuff to break it down for you hear through Answers. good luck though.

Plasma is better for movies. LCD is better for watching TV and in very bright rooms.

For me I prefer LCD

Plasma is prone to "burnout" (ghost images that stay there when the picture is gone or the tv is switched off) that happens with the station logos that stay in the corner of your screen telling you what channel you watching or if you play games alot , the compass often causes burnout. Thats why you dont see computer monitors with Plasma.

It's really all on opinion of that person. I like Plasma, it's a clearer image (I think). Plasma is more expensive, and you have to be careful with the screen, try not to move it around too much or scrape the surface of the TV. They are somewhat fragile.

Plasmas burn something and dont last quite as long and can start to have black spots all over the screen when the picture producing thing runs out.. LCDs are just like computer screens so they last for a longer time.. Plasmas are obviously sharper and clearer than LCds. plasmas cost more too..
