What resolution would be best for me?

What video card for best resolution , pc to tv? Specs. ect...?

  • Tv is a Samsung HDTV 1080i. Has S- video & composite . Resolution is 1,920 x 1,080 i believe. About 21" x 16 " screen. Pc is Dell Dimension 3000 , Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz 2.79 GHz, 512 MB RAM. Hopeing to use as monitor & watch movies. Looking for best resolution. What specs for video card . MB's of memory ect... .

    I'm guessing that's an agp port? Get the new ati hd3850 agp. It's the fastest agp card on the market. Will cost around 250 Or go with the hd 2600 pro for 100 if money is a problem. 2600xt for 160 would be in the middle. 256mb is all you need for memory. 512 doesn't help the speed much in some cases they will even use slower ram on the 512 boards making it over all slower. So watch if it's ddr2 or ddr3 Better to get a 256mb of ddr3 then 512 ddr2 Both cards support vista but only the 3850 will play future games. You will have to upgrade all your system. Watch out and make sure you power supply has the power for new cards. Dell has some good power supplies but you can only push them so hard.
