How do you adjust your monitor?

I give up! Can you tell me how to adjust my monitor for this?

  • I'm wanting to darken highlighted areas on certain pages, but not sure what to call what I want to do other than that. Allow me to give 2 examples of what I mean. First, when your questions here on Answers are about 2 days old, they are shaded to draw attention to them. That's the kind of thing I want to darken, i.e. make easier to distinguish. Right now, I can barely tell they are highlighted. More importantly, this also applies to certain forms I fill out online that should be darker so I know where to type my info. The boxes where I need to type my info are indistinguishable from the general background. I HAVE gotten on my Questions page here where the boxes are highlighted and tried to adjust my monitor to darken them with no luck. I can make the boxes even lighter, but cannot darken them, even when reversing what lightens them! Can you help me with this mental monitor block I seem to have? What function do I need to adjust here? Thanks!

I use Firefox 2.0.0.20 on a G4 iMac and I don't recall seeing an effect that matches what you seem to be describing here on Yahoo Answers. Questions I've answered do gray out if I revisit them, but I wouldn't expect them to be grayed out necessarily on another computer because it's history file would be different. Assuming you aren't making this sort of mistake, if you're using the same browser (and same version of that browser) at home and at work, your problem may be due to one or more differences in appearance-related browser settings. Otherwise, perhaps the browser you use at home doesn't support an HTML or other coding feature that the work browser does. Changes in appearance that are time-related or prior-visit related could also be affected by cookie, history, or cache settings. In any case, I doubt it has to do with your monitor settings.

If you're asking what I think you're asking. The setting that you're looking for doesn't have anything to do with your monitor but rather the program or website you happen to be using.
