What am I doing wrong connecting laptop to my 42" plasma screen?

Try changing the properties of your graphic card to clone mode. Right click on desktop and goto Properties > Settings > Advanced Find the tab that corresponds to your graphic card special properties and set the display mode to Clone so that both the external source and your laptop's flat panel show the same content. OK try pretending that you are connecting a laptop to the TV. In this similar scenario, the laptop is treating your plasma screen as a TV. You need to left click on your desktop wallpaper and select Properties. Go to Settings and Advances. Search for Monitor or something similar that show a picture of two monitor. Then, set the Monitor B as Primary or I would set it equal to Monitor A. That way the laptop screen will be showing as your plasma screen. Hope that help!!
