What are some low priced laptops that are powerful enough for games?

Laptops for College? Reasonably Priced?

  • I'll be heading to college in September, and I'll be needing a laptop. I don't want a notebook (the small laptops) I'd like a laptop with a disc drive, and I'd like it to be reasonably priced. Ideally I'd get a macbook, but that is out of y budget. Preferably under $700, but $800 max. What would you reccomend? Thanks!

    I recently bought a Dell 15R and theyre pretty good. I am in college so I know what you will need. They come in different colors and I believe you can now change them whenerver you want. Memory is very good, and it has many feautures that are useful. I ordered mine from dell.com, you can get them at Staples or Microcenter at a good price but I usually like the website better because you can customize it and you can select the warranty and buy a security system that can be installed in the laptop when you get it. Mine was around $640.00 its an i5 intel Core, with windows 7, energy efficient, with a Ram memory of 4.0GB, and the model is N5010, and i also customize the color and some other stuff lol. Too early to buy a laptop now. Wait until it's closer to September. More places will put laptops on sale, and there will be more selection as the new models aren't due out until summer anyways. Also contact the college and see if they have any recommendations or will give a discount on laptops themselves? My university used to hold its giant student computer sale every September. You could easily get 20% off a new computer, plus all the student discounts on basic software like MS Office, etc. Plus, because you were buying through the university, you also got tech support from them - not the idiots at Best Buy or where ever.

the two new laptops i heard were awesome were asus and lenovo. personally i have a lenovo. its great. awesome features, light weight, good security, fast, windows 7, disc drive, finger swipe, video/camera, internal microphone, speakers. anddd i got it for a super good price (around 400) because the site slickdeals.net has some awesome deals going. subscribe to their email notifications so u know everytime they have a laptop deal. im in law school and love my computer. its great.
