Why won't my DVD play on my laptop?

Dvd audio wont work on lap top after installing window 7 and an wont play downloaded videos laptop crashes?

• Hi took my laptop in to the repair shop because half way through a dvd it would stop working or jus start skiping an the same with videos off my camera,but the cpu was 100%,so I took it in an told the repair guy this an he said he will put a new sound card in an if theres enough ram he will put windows 7 on an this should sort out my problems well guess what they are worse now theres a loud clicking/ticking time bomb noise when I try to play dvds the picture comes on but the loud noise instead of sound, cds work fine an all the sample stuff works fine its just on dvds an video's i've put on, off my camera that dont work right an these are the main things I need the lap top for,an I told the repair guy this,its an old laptop but its for my daughter to start with,ok she's still at nursery but im sick of watching her dvds over an over an over lol,im going take it bk to the repair guy later today but i carnt afford to spend anymore money on it but if I could tell him what needs to be done to fix it that would help or jus knowing myself, plz get bk to me asap any help with this will be really appreciated thanks xx
