What are some low priced laptops that are powerful enough for games?

What are some good laptops with a fast processor speed that are moderately priced?

  • My laptop is so ridiculously slow, I really can't stand it. I'm waiting until college to buy a nicer, new laptop, so I wanted something cheaper to use for the next two years that is in better condition and runs faster than the one I have now. I was looking on craigslist for something in decent condition, but what would be a fast speed? I saw a lot had about 1.6-1.8 GHz processors, but is that fast? I know nothing about laptops. If it's not, what's a good speed? Also, if you know of any decent $400-500 laptops that will get me through the next 2 years, that'd be great. Thanks!

I actually wouldn't waste any money on a new laptop. The easiest way to make your current one faster, so that you save more money to buy an even better one when you go to college is to just reinstall windows. Be sure to back up your files first. :)

DrDave has a valid point, although a little tact is in need. The first thing you should do is run some maintenance applications on it to attempt to speed it up. Try CCleaner, the Malwarebytes. You should be able to see a difference if you have NEVER run these apps previously. I use both of them once a week on my laptop. No problems at all.

First off, how would we know what you intend to use it for? Secondly, your laptop is no doubt slow because you have it filled with a bunch of worthless garbage and malware because you know nothing about how to maintain it. What good is a new laptop if you're going to bung that one up too? EDIT: Tact is for paying customers. Not freebies. When someone asks for help with money in hand, you use every method of tact you can find to satisfy the customer. When my experience is given for free, I can give them the bottom line truth. EDIT: 18 years in PC repair has taught me one rule above all others. 95% of PC woes ARE created by the user. I'd bet money I could make your tired old PC scream.

Ive had the same problem and after doing a bunch of research i decided to go with this. http://amzn.to/zGmQYY (Sorry i cant hyperlink) Its a little over your price range BUT it has an intel core i7 so its super fast. Infact its the cheapest laptop i could find with an i7. Hope this helps. ^^

The Asus N53SV-XE1 is a solid computer, especially for the price. The specs on this machine are great, great i7 processor, graphics card... this should be enough machine for many people. - The price is very reasonable for the technology you're getting..you can find similar machines but they will downgrade you on something, be it hard drive RPM, RAM, or graphics card. The computer runs smoothly, but the parts used in it seems of bad quality. I bought this laptop but had to change it because the display had massacre of dead pixels in it. To my surprise, the replacement alse had dead pixels.
