The laptop was not switching on and occasionally switching itself off?

My laptop keeps switching itself off?

  • My laptop switches itself off while I'm playing sims 3 and I don't know why? I know there can't be anything wrong with the laptop because its not even a week old. The computer goes black then a message on a blue screen comes up and tells me to restart it but it does it itself, then when it comes back on it says start windows normally or safe mode. I always start it normally. It's an acer laptop and I have McAfee protection, why is it doing this and how can I stop it from doing it again?

    Sounds like it's over heating. The game is making the CPU work hard and it's getting hot. Make sure it's standing on a flat surface where air can get to the underside of the laptop, (that's where it draws in air to cool it). You could also try one of the many laptop cooling stands that are available in stores, they help stop overheating problems.

Go to your Administrative Tools control panel, to Event Viewer, to the Windows logs. Check the System log, and the Application log, for any red error messages. If you right-click over an error, and choose "event properties," that will show you the error message that was recorded when the crash occurred. These error messages can be very helpful for troubleshooting. (For example, it wouldn't be unusual for a game crash to involve the video driver.)

Sims 3 is full of the weirdest glitches my friend!I bet it's the game that's causing it. Sorry I don't really know what you could do. If you are a sims 3 community member I suggest you post this question on the forums as there are many helpful people who could possibly assist you!

mine does the same thing! Its because it takes so much effort for your laptop that it starts to over-heat and as a safety thing it turns off to stop it blowing the systems... Im not joking, im just no good a the techincal terms :)
