How to clean a MacBook?

How to clean fingerprints off Macbook Pro?

  • I've had my Macbook (aluminum) for about 8 months and I'm starting to notice smudges and fingerprints on the aluminum itself.. I have a case on the outside so it's not a problem. But the palm rests have smudges! How do I clean this safely? Why is it so hard to clean? Thank you

  • Answer:

If the aluminum surface is a "brushed" finish ( not smooth ), then you could try using a small amount of rubbing alcohol ( Isopropryl alcohol ) on a soft cloth like a microfiber type cloth that isn't real smooth, and lightly rubbing the aluminum area in the direction of any "grain" the aluminum has. Just don't put the alcohol directly on the computer itself...only on the cloth, and no greater amount than needed to slightly dampen the cloth.

because its apple... the shinny ness is eye candy its not nessesary.... it will smudge and its a pain to clean theres no real way to prevent it except stuff such as screen protectors that wont smudge as much other then that... its a finger print magnet... sorry to say... i got an hp that looks really sleak and nice... but the outside casing is all dull not shiny works just as good "in my opinion much better" then any MAC

You'll have to take it into an Apple store.
