My Sony VAIO won't boot up?

My Sony Vaio won't boot up or anything help anyone?

  • Hey everyone, I have a Sony Vaio VGN SZ230P laptop, its about 5 years old. or quite a while now, it hasn't been working at all. Like a few days ago when I would start it up, it tried to start windows, and just when the loading screen went away, the computer showed the blue screen and restarted. It alowed me to go into the BIOS however, so I could change the boot sequence, etc. Now however, its the same thing, it doesn't boot but goes into the blue screen and restarts, however it doesn't even let me go into the BIOS anymore, I hit delete constantly from the moment it turns on, but it just goes to the screen that says "your computer didn't shut down correctly" and asks me to boot via safe mode and all that crap (I've tried it, it still doesn't boot) I really need help, I have a Windows installations disc (XP Pro), and I just want to boot with that. Is there anything at all that I can do? Thanks, I realy appreciate the help!

Read your manual on how to recover it. If you dont have the manual, download it from the Sony website.

You are seeing a progressive failure and intermittent issue that may even lock up the BIOS The most common explanation for these symptoms (especially on a 5 year old computer) is a bad hard drive Try removing the drive and see if it will consistently boot to the BIOS. If it does, then you need to replace the hard drive. Good luck.

Either get a recovery disc (lose all your files) or reinstall windows (with that disc u mentioned, and lose all your files). If that doesnt work, its a hardware problem.

The Blue Screen Of Death (Dump Errors) are mostly caused by hardware failure or Driver mis match If you know how to disassemble your laptop. then Follow these Steps. At the Back of your laptop there is a panel for RAM Slots. Its Fitted with Screws.... Open That and remove the RAM from the Slots and Clean the RAM and the Slots with a Dry Soft Cloth. Insert it Back in. Close the Panel and turn on your laptop and see if this works... If this does'n help Reinstall XP.... Hope I answered Don't forget to vote....
