The reason they changed the name from "laptop" to "notebook" is rather simple. Before they put all that power into the "laptops," you use to be able to sit them on your lap and not have any heat issues. However, the term "laptop" became obsolete when the machines began to run a lot hotter due to all the power consumption. Thus, they started calling the "laptops" "notebooks," so that people wouldn't necessarily be able to sue due to all the heat when setting them on their lap. These days, companies don't call them "laptops" unless they run cool and are able to placed on your lap. As for Macbook Pros and other high-end "notebooks" for gaming, they are just not made for your lap, so they now only refer to them as "notebooks." Referring to "laptops" as "notebooks" mostly just protects the computer company in question from huge lawsuits in the case of someone getting burnt.

hi no difference between Notebook and Laptop ist time is name laptop and carunt name is notbook. fine

The answers above are also true But what I have noticed is that Notebooks are now some what smaller ranging in the 14.5 inch screen and lower like the Acer 10.1" Notebook. Now when they say Laptop its a screen ranging from 15.6" to 17" and above like the Mac Book Pro has a 20'' screen

You don't have the flexibility to change parts ln a Laptop like on a PC, because the Motherboard on a laptop is small it has no PCI slots to accommodate extra cards, so the Video,Sound, CPU and Motherboard are one piece where as on a Pc you can change all to upgrade or Improve, A NOTEBOOK IS THE SAME BUTeven less flexible then a Laptop it is even smaller by design and has less power usally then a laptop, things like RAM,CPU and Screen are much less in Notebooks ,however they are becoming more and more like Laptops and some are even Equual or better so things have gone a bit fuzzy.

A notebook is much smaller compared to laptops. And some notebooks have no built in peripherals in compromise to mobility. But today with the rise of different kinds of laptops (e.g. notebooks and netbooks) and their continuous enhancements, the line that divided their capabilities and physical appearances blurred these lines.

It's almost the same thing. However, a notebook is more compact, it is smaller than a laptop. But everything else is the same.

Love/Hate Me IDGAF :]

a notebook is lighter and has more battery power and it is used as a mobile device. a laptop is more for at home and could replace a whole desktop computer.
