Why does my laptop get hot?

cus your laptop is sexy hahahah jk xD but seriously mayb cus ur house is hot itself OR your computer is very very old and you need a new one

Only let it sit on hard surfaces with no materials under it. If its older out could be the fan. at best buy they have a lap thing with a fan you sit your laptop on and plug into the usb..that could help. Also I wouldn't leave it running all the time..maybe shut it off or keep it in sleep mode.

I get asked this all the time by my friends who are complete computer NOOBS when they get laptops. Generaly there are only 3 reasons: 1. When the surface it is sitting on is blocking the cooling vent.- fix by buying a cooling mat/fan from a general electronic or tech shop, use a cloth to clean the vents. 2. The processor, sometimes the computer overheats when there are to many tasks running on your computer (average for a laptop these days is 65 processes) for example having media player, windows exploror, games and other programs open at the same time.- Fix by only running a few tasks/processes at one time and end unnessacary tasks in the task manager (ctrl+shift+ esc to bring it up) or alternativly buying a newlaptop or processor, my last solution for this is to download Ccleaner (yes double c) from Piriform.com its offical maker for free Ccleaner can be explained at the end of the answer. 3. Internal Systems, such as processing power, internal core, windows 7 ect. the standard laptop today should have atleast 2.9 ghz processing power to function well, this problem is more often associated with playing games while having music in the background.- Fix by cleaning registry files and other files with Ccleaner and by running less aplications at a time. Ccleaner- A free to download system cleaner, cleans files you cant get to manually like Registry files which clog up computer space, this greatly increases system speed and also lessons the need to unistall programs. has many other uses also like deleted things permanetly and sorting items correctly. check around the net in case you dont belive me. hope i helped.

One thing is that the places where air should go through (vents?) are dirty or something has gone in and blocked them; other, your cpu may be at work all the time. More? My Hp G60 has a problem with cooling, the problem is because of the design and I cant do anything for it! Is your battery OK? Some time the battery is not healthy, it heats up while charging or in use and so does the system.

this is not an major issue. it won't affect the computer other than maybe a little lag here and there. if you want you can get a cooling pad. save some money by getting it from ebay. they have stores that sell them from china and japan for less than $10 including shipping. at bestbuy your looking at at least double that.

Is the weatther too hot for your laptop? You may need a fan to cool your laptop.

Some laptops have overheating problems. As stated, make sure you're setting the laptop on a flat surface, not your lap or anything else that would interfere with airflow. If the problem persists, consider buying a laptop cooling pad.

for getting hot,that is normal.you could buy a cooling fan for under $10.

Could be dust. You might need to take it to a professional and have the heat sink cleaned.
