Many computer users have found removing or uninstalling MSN Messenger isn't always as simple as it should be. Especially when using windows xp. Here is two ways to remove this program from your computer which will do the job for you. First Method for uninstalling MSN Messenger: * Click your start button / Settings / Control Panel * Click add or remove programs, then choose the option for add / remove windows components on the left side and check MSN Messenger to remove. Note, you may see two services that look similar. One is Windows Messenger and the other MSN. Windows messenger can also be removed if you are getting a lot of unwanted popup boxes with the words "Messenger Service" at the top. If for any reason you cannot find MSN Messenger in the add or remove area of control panel, try the second method below for removal. * Click your start button / Run / type in the following line: RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\inf\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove * Press OK and restart your computer.

Open your Windows Live Messenger (that's what MSN Messenger is now called). Click on Tools > Options and then select General on the left hand side of the dialog box that is now open. (If you don't see the menu bar where these options are available, click on Help and then place a tick next to "Show the menu bar".) Remove the tick from where it says "Automatically run Windows Live Messenger when I log on to Windows" (The first box at the top of the screen on the right hand side). Click OK. Best of luck to you.

Where you change name/display picture in the options, there will be one that asks if you want to sign in when you boot up. Just have a look around the options, it is there x

All you have to do is go to your control panel. And click on "start-up" programs. Delete msn messenger from that list. Cheers!

Go into start>all programs>startup and delete the MSN shortcut that is in that folder.
