Is it better to have a mac or sony laptop?

Which laptop is better sony vaio or the new mac book or are they of different categories?

can they be compared and if so which one is better just need something light sleek and basic for university.

I have always used Vaios and never had any problems My vote would be the Vaio, they are definitely the highest quality Intel based machines. They definitely beat out Dell, HP/Compaq and IBM, Acer and all the rest. But you are right Mac laptops are a different beast but if you are not tech-saavy for a Mac and used to Windows type environment it may bea big learning curve for you on the mac if you don't have a mentor to show you around
