How can I assemble my own laptop?

Can i build my own laptop?

  • I want to assemble a laptop from scratch just like thye do with desktops. Is it more costly? what things do i need to keep in mind? Which parts to buy and from where?any links would be useful. thank u in advance

    There are companies that build "whitebox" or "barebones" laptops - this is how Alienware was supposed to have started out. When you go to IbuyPower or CyberPower, you're seeing machines from Asus or the like which have been purchased ready to configure, customized by the buyer and then rebranded. I won;t go into the problems caused by this route - suffice it to say that it is possible. However, the specificity of laptop parts makes it hard to make a truly scratchbuilt machine because too many critical parts are unique to a laptop, and the market has not decided on aiming for a single form factor. You have to get a motherboard that's configured to the form-factor of the case; if you want a video card, you're limited to what will fit the case and the board. (Both pre-Dell Alienware and Dell itself had machines configured for cards using the Mobility Radeon 9600 chipset - however, neither machine can use the other's cards.) RAM, the HD and the CPU would have to fit but are subject to less onerous conditions. The big problem I've had with whitebox machines is that when a problem develops, you've got at least 2 (and that's quite enough) companies who will duck your request for assistance. Display problem? It's the mobo, the card; sound problem - ditto. As with all things in life, if you go it alone, you risk being on your own.

my friend you cannot build a laptop ..........you should be a CS engineer to do so as you need to solder and rearrange micro circuits and even if you do it will be very costly as the company's do things in thousands and if you do with individual peises they will be very expensive as they are sold as spares by the companies .................................and even after my suggestion of not doing it yourself you want to do then you can get your components in the Nehru place in Delhi do not search the upper market there but go straight to the basement there are gowdowns there and you can get things there a Lil cheap ............if you like my answer then vote it as best answer
