Locked out of Windows XP, how do I get back in?

How Can I Get My Dell Laptop to Go Past the Windows XP Page While it is Booting Up?

  • Yesterday night my boyfriend was playing games on my laptop. Apparently while he was playing some unwanted programs were installed. Soon after the computer locked up. Upon trying to re-boot the computer it stops at the blue page that says "Windows XP" and has the Windows symbol. I have tried doing extended diagnostics, putting it in Safe Mode, checking the BIOS Setup, trying to start up on the "Last Known Good Configuration," and putting it into Debugging Mode. None of this has worked. I have even taken the battery out a few times and have turned it off numerous times by holding down the power button. This computer has my college work and papers that I desperately need to get into. Does anyone know how to get past this? Thanks ahead.

  • Answer:

Hi Rev You probably installed a program where the driver is conflicting with the operating system. I would re-install with the recovery disk. You won't lose any of your work. It wil ask you if you want yo repair. Answer Yes and your work will not be deleted.
