How many connections can a GPS satellite handle?

How many connections can a GPS satellite handle?

  • There are millions of users in the world, more and more devices have positioning capabilities. Are the GPS satellites ready for all of us? How many could they handle?

  • Answer:

1 or 2. The only thing that talks to the GPS satellites are the ground control stations. The signals that a GPS receiver uses to calculate a location are broadcast from the satellites, there is no communication back to the satellites from the receivers. As with any broadcast system it doesn't matter is there is 1 or 1 billion things listening, the satellites don't know, can't know and don't care.
