What should I do with the old charger?

Laptop charger is working odd...?

  • I have a Toshiba Satellite A105 laptop and a Targus laptop charger. Several months ago, I had to purchase the Targus charger because my old charger stopped working. I brought it into Best Buy and they told me that the charger wasn't giving any current off and had stopped functioning. Now, the Targus is behaving strangely; it still charges, but I frequently have to hold the laptop cord in place or in awkward positions or it won't charge (right now, for example, the cord is draped across my screen, and the charger is plugged into the laptop at a 90 degree angle). The charger has an LED indicator, and supposedly it's giving a charge. Any advice on what might be wrong with my charger or laptop?

yes, there is a tiny break somewhere along the wire. when you move the cord the break reconnects and the charger works. any electrician or DIY person can fix it for you. maybe that is also the problem with your old charger where the break is complete.

you might have microbreaks in the wire. get a new one as that's a fire hazard or if you really need to use it, don't bend the wire so much
