How safe to buy laptop in eBay?
-
Hi, I am in USA and need to buy a laptop for my friend in India, So planning to go for eBay USA and ship it to India. Now the question is, 1. How safe to buy in eBay? 2. Do you think buying in eBay-India will be good rather than buying in eBay-USA? 3. What if I get any repair work in laptop bought in USA after it gets shipped to India ? Does eBay comes into picture here? 4. I can even get laptops for 100$ in eBay, they are second hand, but is it good to go for? Thanks, Dileep.

Answer:
Look at the record of the seller. Be sure of exactly what they say. Is it working perfectly? Can you return it? If yes for what reasons? A good deal money wise isn't such a good deal if it doesn't work and he doesn't stand behind the product.pp

I have had good but mostly bad experience with e-bay .A lot of items bought on ebay aren't what they might seem. buyer beware. Also sometimes the shipping cost are more than the product is worth. You would be a lot better off going to a discount store, at least you'll know what your getting.

lol don't even think about ebay-india because most of them will try to hack you. ebay-usa is probabably the best source for your the computer needs which you seek.

1. its pretty safe to buy anything on ebay as long as the Seller is reliable ( you can tell by reading other buyers comments or looking at his record) 2. I think it will be easier in the U.S.A 3. No most likely you can't hold the shipper responsible for anything after shipping 4. I would probably not buy a laptop second hand

$ 100 laptops?? I'd rather spend $ 400 more and get a brand new Acer. ebay-USA all the way! ebay-india = expensive, and full of scam.

I have bought many laptops on ebay and my advice to you should choose to take it is as follows, I think you would be foolish under the circumstances to purchase a laptop that you are shipping to a different county unless you like myself pay that little extra and purchase from a seller who deals in refurbished or ex corperate laptops, as for repairs that may be required in the country you send it to well this should not be a problem if you purchase well established names such as Dell / Toshiba / HP / or Acer as these makes will have support for them in most countries world wide, but i would beware and not consider a purchase from a single private seller or it could end in tears.

I would not buy something this expensive out of the the USA. I have bought things ranging in the 200-400 dollars on ebay, but always in the US. Ebay and Paypal are pretty good about backing you up when a sale goes bad, but this would be too chancy for me.

Just buy the laptop, and mail it to India. I don't see what is the issue. Ebay was made for selling.
