When windows starts, blue screen shows that says "physical dump of memory" and restarts laptop. how to fix?
-
I have a compaq notebook. About a minute after windows starts up, a blue screen shows up that says "physical memory dumping" or something like that. Then my notebook just restarts and repeats this process over and over. I can't even run any antivirus or spyware before the computer restarts! Whats wrong with my laptop? Does anyone know how to fix this problem?? Thanks.

Whoah!!!!!!!! Stop! I'm assuming you are using XP. Log into safe mode. Do this by tapping F8 to bring up your advanced boot options screen. Then log into safe mode. You should get the help screen (if not, press F1) and do a search for system restore. If you have a restore point before you started getting the blue screen of death, then you will probably be fine. Note: Remember, logging into Windows with the last good known configuration won't help you here because evidently you can log into Windows and your issues happen afterwards. So, just disregard that option on the advanced options screen. Just try System Restore, if that doesn't work uninstall or rollback drivers of anything you may have done before your problem started. Note2: If your machine is doing a memory dump, more than likely you have a hard ware problem. Isolate all parts, and if it's nothing else than it may be your hard drive. :(

You must have Windows XP. There is this really stupid pre-set in XP that says to restart the system when there is a failure. If you can get into windows for at least 10-15 seconds, then do this: Right click on "My Computer", choose "Properties". Goto the "advanced" tab, then under "startup and recovery" choose "settings". Under "system failure" UNCHECK the line to "automatically restart" and hit OK. The next time you get the blue screen error, it will stay there. Copy down the first liine or 2 of the error to get the stop code (ex: stop 000002E). Go to another computer that works, then goto the "Microsoft Knowledge Base" website, punch in that stop code and follow the directions. -JGH

once ur system starts,, immediately go to task manager(ctrl+alt+del),, and switch off this application , then try to find out if it is bcozz of any applicaiton that u have recently installed,,,, if it is, then uninstall it,,, or else,,, the other possilbe option is to run the re-install windows,,

It is not spyware, just sounds like a corrupted copy of Windows. Re-install it and it should fix your problem.

A reinstall is only one possible solution to the problem. It is also possible that you had a bad hard drive or bad RAM. A local computer should or someplace like Best Buy should be able to run some tests on it to figure out exactly what is wrong.
