How do I connect my old printer to my new laptop?

I can not connect my printer to my new laptop. Says computer is not communicating with printer. Fix it how?

  • I have two lexmark printers. One is for my desktop and the other came with the Acer laptop that i recently purchased. The printer will install but it says that the computer is having trouble communicating. How do i fix this problem so i came have a printer working with my laptop.

  • Answer:

    1. uninstall the lexmark printer in your laptop. 2. after uninstalling, connect your printer to your laptop 3. your laptop will automatically detect it. at this time, place the cd software in your cd rom and install the software.

hook up your printer usb cable to your computer and turn the printer on. something may pop up saying that your computer has detected a new device and an instal wizzard may pop up. if this happens , cancel the instal wizzard. then insert your cd that came with the printer and instal the printer drivers . the software may come with other programs that you may not use, but if you only instal the printer drivers, that will allow you to use your printer. follow directions on instaling the software and that's it.
