How can I repair my CD's with Scratch-Out?

How do i repair my system config file without the restore cds?

  • i have an hp compaq nx6110 notebook and i am getting an error saying i need to repair a file...system32/config/system....says the file is corrupt...i dont have the cds that should have come with it at purchase.

    I hope you've got a backup then, because that's one very important directory there in System32\Config. It's where the registry files are stored. BTW, please do not, I repeat, do not copy, equivalent files from another system in the folder as the person below suggested. These are registry files, very specific to your system. You have only three choices: 1) find a way of repairing them 2) restore system state or drive image from backup 3) reinstall windows Here's the link to MS' Registry Repair Utility. Go to your neighbor, friends, skype them to send that file to you (from their PC/Laptop of identical OS)! Copy that "uncorrupted" file you received into that appropriate directory of your laptop.
