Hello, I'm a Mac and I'm a PC.... Don't you think Mac will eventually get vulnerable to viruses?
-
Yes, PC is vulnerable to viruses because more people are using it than Mac before, so virus has been focused on attacking PC. While Mac is getting recognition and now getting popular, don't you think eventually, these ads will eat itself? And Mac will also be vulrnerable to viruses and spywares. I'm not anti-Mac. I love Mac. I'ts cool, I'd love to get one, but the price is overrated.

Answer:
They are currently at less than 5% of the market share. If they get to 20%, hackers might start to bother, but until they let other people make clones and bring the price down, I don't see that happening. Especially for businesses.

It has along way to go for there to be enough of them to make it worthwhile for someone creating a virus. But it most likely will happen eventually. Betting that Norton anti-virus will be the first to come up with some to generate more business.

...... any system that's electrical or electronic is susceptible to compromise.... It's defence is dependant on it's design and security.... Put the best electronic security on it you can,... and hopefully that prevent's hacker's from damaging your computer...

osx is in the same boat of vulnerability that windows is in. there just isnt the userbase on osx yet. its up to the developers of the os to keep ahead of the security curve. but, i am afraid, that both will always be a step behind the creators of viruses and security exploits. human nature.

Look at it this way: OS X has more users than any previous Mac OS, yet the previous versions had viruses, and OS X does not. OS X also has more users than the Symbian phone OS, yet the Symbian OS has viruses. Market share has nothing to do with viruses. It's the level of vulnerability that counts. OS X is much more secure than Windows, so it is much harder to create a virus to attack it. Someday, somebody will do it, but the hole they find will be quickly closed and the threat will disappear quickly.
