Why does my laptop get so hot?

Are you certain the fans are working properly? That's usually why laptops overheat. Cooling issue whether there is a major dust build up or the fans are failing. Maybe your heat sinks need to be removed, cleaned and have new thermal compound applied.

You need to keep your laptop up off of fabric surfaces. Use it only on hardwood or a laptop mat that you can purchase at Wal-Mart or a stand. This should fix your poor ventilation problem. And now... clean fan and vents with canned air again

Because probably you've been using it for hours--- systems do that even, Tvs, most computers, printers, any way what i'm trying to say is that you don't have to worry about since companies install other parts like fans that try to keep your system not so hot,,,, so if its a little bit hot its not a problem but, when it gets too hot and have been using it for hours just take a break.

Your processor probably runs too hot... get a cooling system installed. good luck :D

try getting a cooling pad for it or upgrade the cooler inside the laptop

sounds like its not getting enough airflow to the fan. Check to see if the fan is still working, make sure you set it on a firm surface (not a pillow or anything to block the air flow) and go buy a cooling mat at walmart for about $30.

Laptops get hot, its what they do, VERY common. If your doing basic functions like typing up a paper or browsing the internet, it shouldnt get hot. If your gaming on it or watching movies or anything else thats data intensive, you will need to get a cooling pad, they are cheap, around 10-30 bucks and worth it. Overheating can destroy your laptop VERY easily, its the number one cause of laptop failure so I suggest you get one asap.
