Why are netbooks so popular?

Why do people buy netbooks?

  • I am confused as to why the netbook market is so successful. In my opinion a netbook is just a small laptop that doesn't function quite as well and has a keyboard that's too small. So can somebody please tell me, what is the point of buying a miniture laptop when for a few hundred more you can have a proper laptop?

  • Answer:

they weigh less than a laptop and are also cheaper.

I have both a netbook and a laptop. The netbook is very good for working out of the house, as it is much smaller and lighter than my laptop. It fits very well in my purse. While at first it might be odd working on a smaller screen and keyboard, it doesn't take long to get used to it. The netbook also has the advantage of being much cheaper, yet still does everything I want from a laptop. The only issue is the lack of cd drive, but considering how almost all of my music and software is disk-less, there is no real issue. All in all, it is an economical choice for a computer, especially for someone who doesn't use the computer for more than basic use. Think of it as getting the cheaper, less flashy cellphone for a teen. They don't need the full touchscreen, the basic flip works just fine.

It's much easier to carry around. I hate carrying my laptop around, it's too big and I'm always scared I'm gonna drop it. So a netbook is easy to stick in a briefcase or backpack and convenient to take notes in class or at a meeting and then transfer your notes to your desktop or laptop.

because a laptop is heavy. A netbook is something you'd take on a lunch break from work in your hands. A laptop would require a briefcase or something

I love my ten inch laptop because it has ten hour battery life and i can carry it anywhere i want. Portability and battery life are very good with netbooks,.

Well in my honest opinion, it doesn't make much sense either. I mean a few hundred dollars can be a deal breaker in this economy, but besides that there is no good reason. No laptop is ever going to be as easy to use as a desktop, but netbooks are smaller and cheaper.

You gave your answers your self that netbook is a miniture laptop that mean netbook are made for portability and convenience because of its small size if you are saying that mini laptop or netbook have small keyboard than now we have pocket pc as well so technology is becoming more smaller day by day and people likes new technology as compare to old thats why we have large amount of demand for netbook

Several reasons... the practical reasons are portability and battery life. I have pants with back pockets that can fit a netbook, and the battery life of the little beasts can reach up to ten hours. That are several reasons based totally out of the realm of practicality, though. 1. People are stupid. Because netbooks typically do not meet OS requirements for Vista, the vast preponderance of netbooks come equipped with Win XP, which appeals greatly to stupid people who "don't like the Vista," or "have heard bad things about the Vista," (translated as: too stupid to comprehend anything they don't have a five-year familiarity with, the same way people who's first PC's came with Win 98 are still scared to upgrade to XP.) 2. People are lazy. The vast majority of PC owners do almost nothing more with their computers than playing solitaire, looking at cat pictures online, and emailing long-dead friends from the '40s. (True story: I had to do a diagnostic on a computer where the symptoms were "Spider Solitaire crashes after 7 or 8 games. My diagnosis: You play too much Solitaire. Give your PC and I'll trade you a deck of cards guaranteed not to crash.) Netbooks serve this purpose perfectly. 3. People are cheap as ****. People will buy a big steaming cow turd if they can watch porn on it and get on the internet to access facebook. I have customers who will buy a $249 netbook, a $40 mouse/keyboard combo, and pick up a $20 CRT from the Goodwill. 4. People are still stupid. You can never take away the 'cute' factor from the average consumer. Said person will purchase a Celeron M processor w/ 512 MB RAM and 80GB HDD over a Centrino 2 Quad with 3GB and 500 GB HDD at the same price because the first model is pink with frogs on it. So the answer to your question is, I don't like people very much.

1 answer: portability, because laptops are bigger and don't usually have good battery life, but with a little net book you can pull it out in a wifi hot spot and access the web for hours until the battery dies. 1 bad thing about net books though is there is no built in dvd/cd rom drive
