My laptop has stopped playing sound?

I can't hear sound out of my laptop suddenly (Please Help)?

• I'm using a Toshiba Satellite A505-S6960. I bought it barely a month ago, and I had previously installed a 2005 game on Vista called The Movies. While I was playing this game, it turned out my battery was about to die so the laptop was shutting down. However I accidentally clicked my mouse and interrupted the shutdown process. It reacted as if I had just woken it up from sleep mode and the log in screen was enlarged as if I was playing a 800x600 game. I logged back in and my game was minimized. I went back into the game to find that there was no sound. I closed out of the game and tried iTunes, Firefox, YouTube, etc. and nothing worked. When I check the volume control in the taskbar, I move the slider up to increase the volume and the sound bar barely goes up. It shows that there's little sound, and I can't even hear it. I tested my speakers and they're working, except I can't hear the sound either. I restarted 2 times and there was no boot up sound either. Shortly after, a program I used called Enso that deals with keyboard-based computer commands stopped working entirely. Does that have to do with anything? Any suggestions? I'd appreciate if you included *why* I should do something, as to not crash my computer for following bad instructions. Thanks a lot.

  try installing your sound drivers again. it comes with your motherbord cd.
