Your modem might be a Windows-only modem, meaning the jerks who run Microsoft keep the drivers secret, so that they only run on Windows. If this is the case, your best bet is to buy a pcmia modem or external USB modem. If this is not the case, I cannot help you, as I am new to Linux myself.
