How to maintain a laptop's battery length?

  • One friend of mine never keeps her laptop plugged in longer than it takes to charge the battery. I usually keep mine plugged in most of the time unless i need to take it somewhere. What is the best way to maintain the battery?

  • Answer:

    For the most part leave it plugged in while using it, BUT once a month it needs to be discharged, then fully charged to keep its life the longest.

I believe you should always keep a laptop plugged in to maintain the battery's life. I've heard that many laptop batteries are only good for about 100 cycles of charging/discharging. So if you keep it charged all the time, you'll save those cycles for when you need them.

Well, never leave your laptop on when charging, don't let it charge for a very long time and let it drain completely first. Otherwiser, the power level will go down and it won't hold its charge.

i think the best way is plug in only when the battery is low and dont overcharge it. worked for me. good luck!

By a back up battery. And streaming anything, like games, video stuff like taht really kills on your battery.

resist charging it unless absolutley necessary. Wait until the computer is warning you that it is going to turn off. most batteries have a memory to them and a half charge done repeatedly will result in a battery that will only be able to be charged half way
