How to prevent my Windows XP computer operating system from shutting down and from physical memory dump?
-
In the middle of my working on the laptop, my computer system shuts down with me getting an annoying blue screen with white letters advising me to use Safe Mode or remove any of newly installed hardware or software programs among the other suggestions from the same blue screen. In addition, I am also warned on the physical memory dump which sounded very scary when I read it for the first time. Having already removed some of the programs, the computer system keeps on shutting down now even more frequently. Please, help me if you can by also giving me the opportunity to ask you any further questions either via emailing you or perhaps even better chatting on skype if you don't mind. Many thanks in advance!!!

Answer:
If this is happening regularly your only course of action is to take it into a workshop and get it properly bench tested for a couple of days and get a proper prognosis done on it. In all reality nobody can say what it is without actually seeing it because there are too many reasons as to why it's happening, as seen here by the many different answers you have already got. If not you could end up doing some serious damage to it if you continue to us it.

This could be a number of problems but it is certain you are getting a hardware malfunction where the system ends up in an infinite loop and Windows is shutting your system down to prevent any damage. A blue screen or BSoD(blue screen of death) is most often caused by overheating or a fault at a RAM address. Like someone else said run memtest86 over night and it will test your ram for faults. If you can open the case and check your fans to insure that they are all operating correctly. If the computer is branded I generally wouldn't worry about overheating. Have you installed any new hardware lately? if so then remove it as drivers or IRQ can cause this problem. If you still cant figure out the problem and are computer skilled I suggest viewing the crashdump file which will tell you exactly what went wrong.

Its your RAM, its too small your computer can't handle so many programs at once, Maybe if you open one program it won't crash but if your a workaholic like me, when you run so many programs at once your RAM can't handle it so it will crash with that annoying blue screen. P.S Make sure you have enough fans in your computer to prevent it from over heating, this is another factor why it always crashes. Hope this helps.

possibly overheating, check the fans are they really hot if yes that may be a problem, i would recommend a laptop cooler for that. [http://www.anitec.ca/produ/4258/vantec_lapcool3_notebook_cooler/%5Dalso upgrading ram chips would increase speeds. [www.crucial.com] use that site to see what kind of ram can your laptop use. also you may have installed a bugged program causing the blue screen of death.

The "blue screen of death" can happen for lots of reasons but one of the most common is overheating make sure all your vents/fans are not clogged and clean your system then try again, that would be my first point of call and then work from there..

I think you have a memory problem. Try running memtest86 overnight or 6-12 hours and see if you get any errors. Any errors, even one = faulty RAM.

definitely a faulty RAM if it's not heating up. If it's heating up...u should see the bottom of ur laptop...can u place it on ur lap? if it's quite cool...then back to RAM problem... most bios tests for RAM do not check the ram properly..so better get on of Linux CD's (no u don't have to load it ;)). when it boots...there is an option for MEM TEST...select that...and it will take around 5 - 6 hours to complete fully....if it reports...error defintely problem with RAM :( otherwise some virus issue...or something which can easily be fixed :D

Blue screen treatment, you can refer to 1 restart 2 new hardware detection of new services 3 Trojan virus detected 4 checks BIOS and hardware compatibility 5 run "sfc / scannow" system to check whether documents have been replaced, and then use the installation disk to restore the system 6 upgrade SP2 or SP3 7 motherboard refresh virus infection 8 BSOD were damaged, need to be replaced you can use Registry Easy get rid of the memory dump.
