Shared printer problem?

Computer keeps on crashing when I use the network printer......?

  • So let me explain my problem. I have a office with about 10 computer running off of one server. I have a network/shared printer that is connected not to the server but to one of the office terminals or computer. In the past there has been no problem. Recently one of the computers now has a problem using this network/shared printer. When it goes to print it restarts. Strange because when I try to access another shared printer in the office it doesn't restart. Only when it uses this printer. I might want to mention that this printer is a Epson Laser c900. I thought that it might be a driver problem, but I have installed the driver and still the same problem. So I did some research on the Internet and they said it might be a USB/Hardware problem. So I did a system check removed all of the connected USB devices and still the same problem. So as a last resolution I changed the hard drive to another identical machine, but the same problem occurs. Is it a virus? HELP!

your printer has a problem!

First uninstall software/drivers of said printer, then delete all folders pertaining to printer in program files, then boot machine in safe mode, then go to c:\windows\system32\spool or c:\winnt\system32\spool folder, delete all folders under drivers, then delete all files under printers folder. reboot then go to printers/faxes folder, right click anywhere in white space, go to server proerties, click ports tab, delete ports with printers not used and with the epson name, click drivers tab and delte all drivers with the epson name, then re-install as instructed in manual.

Did you test the printer? Could be bad.
