Which is a better and faster computer processor?

Which computer/processor is better?

  • I ordered a new computer, a HP Pavilion A6547c with an Athlon 64x2(B) 5000+ 2.6GHz processor. However I received a HP Pavilion A6512p with an Intel (R) Pentium (R) Dual CPU E2200 2.20 GHz processor. Common sense is telling me that I got screwed on the processor right? Is it a big enough difference to complain and send back the computer? Its buy.com by the way, and this is the second one they sent me because the first had a dead hard drive, I'm really about to scream right now because nothing is going right.

  • Answer:

Send it back. It probably is missing the other bells and whistles the other machine had. Maybe a better power supply, maybe more expansions, maybe overall a better machine. This is called a "Bait and switch." and I would not deal with it. Write them a letter, and visit websites like bizrate.com and find out where you can write a real HONEST letter about your experience. First let the company know what you expect to be done. Then write the letter if you feel necessary.

Yeah, the AMD processor is 2.6 Ghz and the E2200 is a 2.2 Ghz and that is a clear loss of 400 Mhz. Plus the fact that the AMD processor does NOT have a FSB like the Intel, so that makes the Intel processor even less useful. I would definitely scream, because you DID NOT get what you paid for, and unless there is something in writing saying you agreed they could swap out one component for another, I would return the whole kitn kaboodle to them and demand they either give you exactly what you paid for or refund your money. Next time, don't buy an HP, ok? HP does a number of things, including proprietary motherboards, power supplies, puts the recovery disk on a hidden partition on the hard disk (which if the HD crashes, you loose your recovery and HP laughs at you), you are totally dependent on them for parts (if they are even making them)...I wouldn't touch an HP for anything.

Thats a big mix-up. If it was a different AMD processor than it would have been easier but they gave you intel when you ordered AMD. Overall Intel dual-core is better than AMD but yours has 2.6GHZ compared to Intel's 2.2GHZ so I think they are equal. So its upto you if everything else was same as you ordered.

If I were you I would still go for the one with AMD processor.

well the one u ordered is slightly faster but the one u have wont lag or lock up as much when working with multiple programs. the one u have is like 2 procesors in one, but theyre slower than the other comp, but the other comp only has 1 procesor. so a little more speed or less locking up from running multiple processes
