you can watch or record tv on your computer. If you have a tv out on your video card, you can then watch it on your regular tv.

You'd be able to watch TV on your computer, watch VCR tapes and convert them, and play DVDs.

Maybe if you dont have a tv at home, or you travel alot it can be helpful. But if that isnt the case, I find it useless.

Well if you have one you can watch free-to-air tv on your com lols also you can record the programs and rewind them if you miss something however do not let it affect your choice TOO MUCH as you can always buy one and plug it in....

the tv tuner on a desktop is useless in my opinion but to have one on a laptop would be useful as you can use it while traveling

There are software out there that you can recieve hundreds of cable stations for a one time price. No monthly cable bills. also, it creates another tv in your house.

The best part is the ability to use your computer, if you have hard drives that are large enough, as a DVR . . . just like a TIVO. If there's a program (or multiple programs) that I want to watch which conflict with something else that I have to do, I just set the programming for the the TV tuner card and go on with my life. Then I watch the program at my liesure, usually in a corner of my computer screen while I'm working on something else. If I want to save programs from the non-HBO networks (like, for instance, Jericho or Lost) I can edit out the commercials and burn the whole season to a DVD for my later enjoyment.
