How do I upgrade ram and my videocard on an hp pavillion desktop?

  Sounds like you are trying to play Sims 3. If you have never done anything like this on your own before, you might consider bringing it to a local PC repair shop. DONT USE BESTBUY GEEKSQUAD. You will have to use specific RAM, and you want to be sure that the Video Card has the spec you need. Call around for estimates, and call more than one place. They may ask you to bring it in to look at your system, so go ahead an do so. Also, your system sound somewhat outdated. You might consider a system upgrade at this point. The price on computers has come down drastically in the past couple years, and you could get a system that meets the specs to run Sims 3 for under $500. They will just sell you an over priced replacement system instead of trying to upgrade yours. I worked for BestBuy as a salesperson when this was all going on.
