If I had to do a system recovery (not restore, but recovery) can I get my files back?

So I had a really bad virus that made my computer crash.. It wouldn't even let me do a recovery becuz for some reason there was only one date I could recover to which was the current day ( I clicked show more recovery dates and there were non).. So I tried the one for the current day that it showed.. after it completed it deleted ALL my files.. Everything on desktop aside from recycle bin.. everything when you click start was gone.. prgram files.. everything.. there was nothing for me to click on.. even internet explorer was gone.. so I restarted and hit f8 I believe and it gave me the option to do a recovery (taking it back to the out of box state and restoring all factory defaults).. so I did it.. now I'm wondering are my pictuers and files still on here or are they gone and lost forever?? I had a bunch of very important stuff on here ( I know I should have used a flash drive or something to back it all up) but honestly I just never thought about it.. Regretting it now.. Anyways.. Is there any way to get them back?

Don't be panic. you can try some data recovery software. You can see http://search.yahoo.com/search?vc=&p=asoftech+data+recovery It tells the steps how to perform data recovery. If above does not work, you may have to format the usb (use quick format), and then use above mentioned software to scan again the usb and recover your files.

When you a restore to factory settings state,.you will not be able to recover files without very expensive software or a technician for computers.
