Question about hd tv?

A question about an HD TV Tuner card?

  • I am considering purchasing the following TV Tuner card: http://www.geniatech.com/pa/x8000a.htm It says that it supports up to 1920 x 1080. It has Composite (RCA) input, S-Video input, and 75-Ohm coaxial input. It's my understanding, however, that none of those input methods can carry an HD signal. If that's the case, how am I supposed to take advantage of the card's capability to handle an HD input? It was my intention to attach my cable box to the card so that I could watch and record television programs on my computer. My cable box has HDMI, DVI, and component output, all of which can carry an HD signal. It does, in fact, have S-Video, RCA, and coaxial output. These are for attaching the cable box to an SD television though, and can't output HD. Is this just a case of false advertising? Or am I missing something? It seems to me to be impossible to attach an HD source to this card, but I would like someone to prove me wrong (since it's so cheap!)

  • Answer:

If you use the 75ohm coaxial input you should get HD no problems
