How can I watch cable TV through my computer?

How can I watch local cable tv on my computer?

  • I have comcast cable (regular, not digital) and comcast highspeed internet. Since both add up to $100 a month and my internet relies on the cable, I'm assuming there is some way to watch tv on here. Is this possible, or am I assuming wrong? I read in a question similar to this, on one of the yahoo answers, that you need a video card for your computer (I have a Dell 4600 desktop). I don't know if this applies to my situation and if it does, I don't get it! (illiterate to how this works-duh) Please, someone explain all this garbage to me!

    i suggest you to go for an external TV Tuner card. do not go for an internal TV tuner card (to fit on PCI slot) as there are a lot of problems associated with it. i don't feel there is any technology to watch live TV programs through internet. go ahead and buy a good one with required features!

My friend, you need not worry about this. You have 2 options. Either you buy Windows XP Media Center Edition or buy a Combo TV box. Then get a cable connection and then you can watch tv channels on your computer. Good luck.

You need a tv tuner card to watch TV in u r pc, There are 2 types availabel in the market 1. Internal ( with this u can even record programs in ur hard disk 2.external (u can't record tv but to watch tv u don't have to boot u r pc.
